The Painting

So, it's not looking hopeful, at this point, that we will have the cd completed by Christmas. It is a time consuming project but one that I have so enjoyed. We've spent many nights in the attic studio. Sometimes I call it the nest because it is so high all you can see from the windows are the tree tops; a good place to create away from everyday distractions. We've spent many hours thinking through ideas and weaving together sounds and pieces of melodies and watching songs take shape like a mosaic with tiny specks of bright colors that finally form an image. Some nights we sip cheap wine and inspiration flows more quickly than we can bottle it, the music comes easily and the hours are swept away in the pleasant outflow of ideas. Other nights it is technical and tedious and hard to focus, but mostly incredibly fulfilling especially to be able to do this with Josh.
I thought I'd share a song from the cd which is almost done. It still needs an intro and some strings but it is mostly done. It is called The Painting. It is dear to me mostly because it ends with words my dad spoke to me almost every night before I went to sleep. You can listen to it by clicking here.

There is such love and beauty as your voices overshadow - this is such a moving tribute to your dad. It's lovely, Linda. And so are you.

I got really excited when we returned from Germany and Amy told me you were making a CD. I remember hearing you sing somewhere years ago and thinking WOW! So, this song is amazing Linda! I love it:) I keep playing it over and over. There are no words - it is just SO good. I really look forward to this CD:) I wonder if your children will have memories of hearing beautiful music drift down to them in their dreams from the nest - sounds nice. Thanks for sharing this song - I needed it today.

It's so beautiful Linda. Jonathan stopped fussing to hear the music when I played it, then got all wiggly and upset when it stopped. You have a rare gift.

Linda, this is beautiful. It has such a mysterious, haunting melody that just draws you in. It feels like the way the Lord draws us in sometimes. I am only commenting on the sound - my computer has crappy speakers, so I couldn't make out the words. Look forward to hearing them on the cd.

Oh, I was SO excited at the prospect of hearing your sweet voice from the other side of the world, but this didn't bring up the song . . . do you know if I have to have a Myspace account in order to listen to it?
love to you and the family,
anna

Anna, I'm pretty sure you don't have to have a Myspace account because it seems to have worked for several people I've asked. But I'm not that familiar with Myspace so I'm not sure why it didn't work. We miss you.
