just blue

this photo by Nathan Bosic

Sorry for the blue overload people, but I am just drunk with love for blue. My photo library is bursting with it. It's moonlight, water, the sky, the eyes of my family, my mom, it's calming but dramatic. How fitting to begin and end this color week with my two favorites. If you drop by, let me know your favorite, or favorite of this series. This week of celebrating color has made me more vividly aware of every hue and shade of the rainbow. I can't help but feel like I left out some great ones like turquoise and purple and gray. Oh well, maybe I'll do those later. But for now enjoy the colors around you... drink in the beauty.

friday: orange

I've been having lots of fun with this whole color week thing. I must say I much prefer focusing on one color at a time as opposed to yesterday. Orange makes me think of fire and autumn and my favorite sweater which I wear pretty much every cold day of the year and Jen K. She seems to use a lot of orange in her art work, some of which you see above.

Color week- Monday: yellow
Tuesday: blue
Wednesday:green
Thursday:black,white,brown
Friday:orange
Saturday:red
Sunday:pink,purple

wednesday green

<

.
I came upon a friend's (Cat) blog today that is doing some kind of week in color, celebrating a different color each day. Wednesday is green and I felt just so inspired I had to join in. I'm happy the world's not in black and white. I'm definitely a fan of color and how could I possibly pass up green? So here's to green in all it's lushness and vibrancy, it's serenity, it's spring and summer aliveness. Ah, beautiful green.

Summer nights

We were enjoying a lazy evening at my sisters house not too long ago, like so many I remember with hammocks and fireflies and kids damp and grubby from playing outside all day. Ella was sporting her new blue birthday Crocs from Mimi and when little Dove spotted them a battle of the miniature wood nymph fairies ensued.

They scurried around the grass, Ella with a one shoe limp, tossing back and forth adamant cries of "mine".

Dove-bird emerges victorious.

And Ella Bella makes a slow retreat.

when things get too quiet

I love a good yard sale. I like getting a peek at what people have stashed in their attic or basement. I've been to some pretty shabby ones in this neighborhood, and also noticed the phenomenon of the perpetual yard sale, where people just leave the same stuff on their porch or in their yard and try to sell it week after week. This past weekend renewed my faith. With Naya strapped to my chest I set out to have a look. I rummaged threw boxes with old cameras, Christmas ornaments, tools and toys. As I glanced up from admiring the pictures in a stack of Life magazines from the sixties, I noticed the man having the sale seemed pleased as Juden and Ella curiously explored all the trinkets that probably used to be his own kids. He smiled at Ella's squeals of delight as she squeezed a white plush cat. He was incredibly generous and gave the kids some things for free. And check out what else I scored there.
Five bucks people...I have always wanted to play. I may not have a lot of time right now but I'm looking forward to Josh getting me started. Besides how could I pass that up?

And I got these great stamps which will be awesome for making cards and scrap booking.
We also got some cool new craft supplies for Juden and when things got just a little too quiet here's where I found them...

Naya became the art project without even a single protest!

girls in white dresses

Our girls were baptized on Sunday. When Juden observed what was going on he made sure to announce that he was not thirsty.

Ella

Here is Ella on her last night of being one.

Ella turned two today. She was born on the first day of summer. My first baby girl...she stole my heart. I look forward to this age. With all the talk of terrible two's, if she's anything like Juden she'll save most of her fury for three. She's becoming a little girl but is still baby enough to be content to linger in my embrace. She doesn't fully converse yet but her personality is just bursting in her expressions and humor. Here she is trying out her new birthday tutu.
